GC UNIVERSITY
Mian Waqar Yousuf has donated Mian Muhammad Yousuf Block in 2004 as gratitude to GC University from where he has studied. The foundation of Mian Muhammad Yousuf Block with covered area of 93 thousand SFT was laid on Nov 1, 2004 by Governor Punjab Lt General (Rtd) Khalid Maqbool. There are 2500 students studying in different departments of Mian Muhammad Yousuf Block. Disciplines taught in GC University are mainly categorized into the field of Art & Design and Management Sciences. GC University offers undergraduate, graduate and post graduate programs. Under the disciplines of Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programs, degrees in Bioinformatics, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Sciences, Home Economics, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Physics, Statistics, Telecommunication Engineering, Zoology, Fine Arts, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, Applied Linguistics and Applied Psychology are offered. Moreover Post Graduate Short Courses in Home Economics, Banking Law, Environmental Law and Labor Law are also offered.
LA SALLE HIGH SCHOOL (FAISALABAD)
Mian Waqar Yousuf feel obliged to give back to the community and school in which he was nurtured and fostered. As a graduate from the La Salle High School, to provide donations to the school is a sense of great contentment and fulfillment to him. Two operational units were established in 2004 Mian Muhammad Yousuf Education Centre-2 with total covered area of 33,000 SFT and Nursery Block with total covered area of 18,000 SFT. There are 1800 students studying in both operational units. Due to availability of additional space, La Salle High School has started offering O Levels and Intermediate classes. Moreover donations were also given for library construction, other expansion and extension work such as construction of additional classrooms on ground and first floor and maintenance of school building.
MIAN MUHAMMAD YOUSUF BLOCK MALIR CANTT SCHOOL
Mian Waqar Yousuf has donated a section of the school named as Mian Muhammad Yousuf Block Malir Cantt School with the covered area of 3,500 SFT. This school is situated in Malir Cantt under military cantonment providing education to the children of soldiers and combats of Pakistan army. The capacity of the block is about 200 students. Mian Waqar Yousuf has also donated 10 computers for the school.
MIAN MUHAMMAD YOUSUF TAMEER SCHOOL (GULSHANE ZIA, ORANGI TOWN)
Mian Waqar Yousuf has donated the school building on a plot of land 500 sq. yards in Orangi Town Sector, Karachi. The school was established in 2003 and has seven rooms. There are 267 students studying and benefiting from this school. The school aims to provide education to under privileged children with particular emphasis on character building. Moreover, Mian Waqar Yousuf has also donated library books, computers and printer to the school.
NED UNIVERSITY
Mian Waqar Yousuf donated construction area with covered area of 17,192 SFT in 2004 for building classrooms and labs and thus financed establishment of the Petroleum Engineering discipline in the NED University in collaboration with the Petroleum Institute of Pakistan. Mian Muhammad Yousuf Laboratories was constructed in 2005 and has been awarded Best Petroleum Lab Award. There are 158 students enrolled in Petroleum Engineering department. Mian Muhammad Yousuf Scholarship is also given on merit-cum-need basis to 100 students every year that is equally distributed to each class of the university.
SINDH RANGERS-MIAN MOHD YOUSUF SCHOOLS & DISPENSARIES
Five schools have been donated to rangers in the border areas of Sindh. Utility stores & dispensaries are also established in each school. Mian Muhammad Yousuf Schools, Dispensaries & Welfare Shops are managed by rangers and donations are given occasionally. These schools are situated in the far flung areas of Sindh where there is no proper transportation system. Some of the schools are situated in the middle of desert where only rangers can reach. There are 39 students enrolled in school of Village Malook Ki Dhani Umerkot with covered area of 1800 SFT, 30 students in Village Mithrao Tar Ghotki with covered area of 1800 SFT, 104 students in Village Penali Tharparkar with covered area of 2400 SFT, 35 students in Village Sanao Tar Khairpur with covered area of 1800 SFT and 37 students are enrolled in Village Sadau Hathungu Sahnkar with covered area of 2400 SFT. On an average 10 to 15 number of patients per day visit each Dispensary & Welfare shops situated in the border areas of Sindh. Wind mills and solar energy systems are also introduced for energy generation and conservation in these remote areas.
THE CITIZEN FOUNDATION SCHOOLS
Mian Waqar Yusuf has donated The Citizens Foundation 6 schools at 3 locations in the name of his beloved father Mian Muhammad Yousufcampuses for under privileged children. The schools are run by The Citizens Foundation which is a Pakistani non-profit organization that provides a viable alternative to government schools. The schools were established in 2004 with the computer labs and libraries in each school. There are two primary operational units in campus I (location: Police Lines HQ Naval Colony, Karachi), two secondary operational units in campus II (location: Phangali, Lahore) and two primary operational units in campus III (Location: Chiniot Chah Lodhrawala, Punjab). There are 301 students enrolled in Mian Muhammad Yousuf Campus I with total covered area of 11,696 SFT, 113 students in campus II with total covered area of 16,000 SFT and 261 students in campus III with total covered area of 13,000 SFT.
