Mian Waqar Yousuf, a local investor and a philanthropist, has established "Mian Mohammad Yousuf Foundation" in the name of his belated father with the objective to improve and spread education in Pakistan.
In his ongoing quest, a number of schools and university department buildings have been constructed in cooperation with Pakistan Rangers, Tameer-e-Millat Foundation, and Rotary Club for Pakistan Navy. Some details of past and existing projects are as follows:
Built Faisalabad University on land provided by Government of Punjab. The project involved building of several departments and providing advanced educational facilities.
Upgraded education facilities at La-Salle School in Faisalabad.
Donated a building for the development of NED University Petroleum Department.
Numerous schools were built for underprivileged population in small towns (Hub Choki, Port Qasim etc.) near Karachi and several are in process of construction and planning.
Five schools are built for The Citizen Foundation, three schools in Punjab, and two in Police Line Karachi.
Several schools are under construction in cooperation with Pakistan Rangers on Pakistan-India border. Currently, three schools are in operation.
The Foundation also grants annual "Mian Mohammad Yousuf Scholarship" in NED University to students on need basis.
Further, Mian Waqar Yousuf has also established a "Communities Fund" with the objective of upbringing the financial freedom of the families involved in the fund. The Foundation makes donation to the fund for the communities and invests the proceeds in various investment vehicles. The fund will be redeemed to the member families on maturity to provide the benefits in accordance with the charter of the fund.
